Publications and videos, programs and stuff,
Speakers, too, that will keep me abreast
Of community news, no; ‘tis surely enough
If I have a place to go dressed.
By hands reaching out from deep secrecy’s fear,
By that I cannot be impressed.
Let others who care then extend them some cheer.
Not me! I’ve a place to go dressed!
Ah! Social acceptance is just a pipe dream!
To chase it seems not for the best.
Sufficient for me does my local group seem,
‘Cause I have a place to go dressed.
Confronted with change, I will always ask, “Why?”
The whole concept makes me distressed.
‘Tis known of new notions that most never fly.
Just give me a place to go dressed.
At work serving others is no place to be.
If you want to work, be my guest.
I’ll advocate programs if they’re right for me,
And I have a place to go dressed.
By now I’ve grown deaf to my soul’s warning bell,
And may not abide with the blessed,
But Old Scratch assures me that even in Hell
I will have a place to go dressed!
