Hobbies.  Almost everybody’s got ‘em.  Here are a few of mine.

You may have wondered why I call this site “Ricki’s Run.”  I would hope the buttons on the left of each page would have given you a clue!  I love to snow ski.  It is a different experience for each of us, with something for everyone to enjoy.  It is one of the few sports that does not seem like exercise to me.  I love it all - powder skiing in the trees, cruising at warp 10 down the corduroy, jumping into an avalanche chute, racing down a slalom or giant slalom course.  I did not get to try skiing until I was an adult and I often wonder what could have been if I had gotten into ski racing as a child.  Anyway, for those of you that do not ski, most ski areas have lanes or areas that were specially prepared for you to go down known as ‘runs’, and almost all of them have been named.  Most skiers have their favorites runs, so here is one I made up just for us.  I hope you like it.

I love going to the movies, and my favorite movies often have Sci-Fi or Fantasy themes.  I can hardly wait until May of ‘99 when the next ‘episode’ of the Star Wars movies comes out.  I just hope it can live up to the legend that the first three established.  Raise your hand if you are one of the umpteen million people that thinks Paramount should never have canceled Star Trek: The Next Generation and started up with the movies.  Somehow, two hours every three years just does not get the job done.

He's dead, Jim!
Is he cute or what?

Animals.  I just love ‘em.  I have a small zoo at home and life just wouldn’t be the same without my furred/scaled/feathered friends.  I miss them dearly when away from home.  The critter you see pictured here is called a WombatTasmania has so many of them that they actually have ‘wombat crossing’ signs on the road!

Speaking of away from home, I love to Travel.  I have been to Europe, Canada, Mexico, Australia, New Zealand and all over the United States.  Of the places I have been, Australia was my favorite.  Great place, great Animals, great people.  I spent 19 days there and could easily have spent 19 more.  I plan to go again, this time spending a whole week at the Great Barrier Reef, one of the most beautiful places I have ever seen.  Ever pet a Kangaroo?  A Wombat?  You can in Australia.  A riot of color flies by you and you think “Oh my!  We have to get that poor bird back to his cage!  Until you realize that the whole continent is his cage!

Obviously, I am also into computers.  Especially Computer games.  My Favorite so far is Forsaken, with Descent 2 coming in a close second.  I can hardly wait until the next version of these two games comes out, whenever that is.

Guilty Pleasures.  Here are a few of mine:

Nyuk, Nyuk, Nyuk!

Spread out!  I grew up with The Three Stooges, and I still laugh at them when I see them.  You got a problem with that, Porcupine?

Nobody here but us chickens, Doc!

Bugs Bunny, Ren and Stimpy, the Simpsons - I still haven’t grown out of those cartoons.  Just can’t get enough of that Cwazy Wabbit!
